The College Board recently released their annual student-reported data for college success. According to their data, there were about 200,000 fewer students graduating from college than in 2010. To put this in perspective, the number of people who graduated from college in 2017 was over 10 million.
This is a little hard to explain but they are saying that only about 40,000 of the students who were dropped from college are still enrolled. Of those 40,000, only 5% are still in college. In fact, the number of enrolled students is down to just over 400,000.
If you get this wrong, they are warning that you might end up in a coma, or worse. And while these are the exact numbers, it’s not clear how many of these people are still on death row or how many are dead. It’s hard to tell, but it’s safe to say that the numbers are down. To put this in perspective, the number of people who died in 2017 was over 1.5 million.
Again, its hard to tell and it could just be a small percentage of the total of those still enrolled. Either way, its a huge drop from 2017.
You would think that this news would be great, but like most of the rest of the world, we think just the opposite. As you recall, clark is dead.
I have no idea why this is a big deal, and I can’t imagine that anyone would care, but death is a big deal. Our brains are hardwired for it. Now most of us know what to do in a life or death situation, but we rarely think about it. We are taught it’s a bad thing, so we don’t do it. We can’t because we are taught it’s bad, but we don’t know.
The fact is that the majority of our thoughts and actions are on autopilot. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing either. Our habits, routines, impulses, and reactions carry us through our lives so we don’t have to stop and think about it every time we wipe our ass or start a car.
This is actually a good thing, because there’s no need to think about these things every time we do something. When a person’s body starts to feel fatigued, they think about it. When they feel like they’re in the middle of a particularly intense argument, they think about it. When they start to feel like they’ve run out of food, they think about it.
This is just one of the many ways that our routines, our impulses, and our reactions can keep us in autopilot. When we’re unaware of the consequences of our habits, routines, impulses, and reactions, then we are able to act on them without realizing it. When we realize what we’re doing, we can usually stop.
One of the best ways to change our habits, routines, impulses, and reactions is to try to be aware of what they are doing. Not just what we think they are doing, but what we’re actually feeling and thinking. We shouldn’t necessarily just go with our instincts, but rather try to stop ourselves from acting on them.
